Meet the Maker

Monday, Feb. 26, 5:30 p.m.

American Printing House for the Blind

The story of Civil War Union spy Elizabeth Van Lew as told by her niece. This film is based on true events(!) and was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Louise Van Lew is a 12-year-old living in Richmond, Virginia, with her aunt during the final days of the Civil War. Her aunt's anti-war, anti-slavery views make things difficult for Louise, but when a suspicious Confederate general comes to search the house for an escaped Yankee, she is forced to take sides. There’s some local talent in this PBS movie. The Director Nell Cox, will present the screening and lead discussion following the film.
